What I’m Wearing
Where I Shop
I’ll be the first to tell you that age is only a state of mind. We, as midlife women, can be anything we want to be, dress any way we want to dress, work in whatever career excites us and basically live our own individual truths. There are definitely some advantages to turning 50 and there are some not so advantageous aspects to turning 50. This is a bit of a cheeky take on midlife so I hope it brings a smile to your face.
I’ve got two words for you: Cleavage Wrinkles… really?
What’s going on with my jowls? Can you say bloodhound?
I’ve turned into that little old lady at the super market. “Can you read this for me, honey?… I don’t know why they have to make the print on those labels so small.”
Why do I pee and then have to pee again in 2 minutes?
Why am I only 127 lbs and yet I have a muffin top.
I’m so sorry family, but when I’ve been up since 3:00 in the morning staring at the ceiling, wondering why I can’t just go back to sleep… I’m going to be grouchy.
Wow, basically half my life is over already.
If I exercise too much too fast, I hurt. If I don’t stretch regularly, I hurt. If I sit too long, I hurt. If I eat too much sugar for Christ’s sake, I hurt.
If Paul even comes close to me in bed at night while I’m having a hot flash, it’s like a scene from the Exorcist.
My hair would be positively white if I didn’t color it.
Oh, God, my hands are starting to look like my Mother’s… you know, all veiny and wrinkly.
Self esteem either skyrockets because you basically stop caring, even a little bit, about what anyone thinks of you or it plummets because you’re teens are constantly telling you everything you’re doing wrong.
Those were some of the not-so-pleasant aspects to turning 50, but there’s an upside too.
I may be ready to rip your head off, but I haven’t had a period in 8 months, yipee!!!
I have more experience upon which to base decisions. If only my teens understood that.
I’ve gotten comfortable with “good enough.”
I don’t do guilt.
I’m much more forgiving. We’re all human. We all screw up. We’re all learning together.
I have awesome photo albums of the past 20 years of my family’s life.
I understand the importance of eating right and exercising. It’s still a bit of a work in progress though.
I don’t feel the need to compare myself to anyone.
I have a group of really great friends who I can talk to about anything.
After living through lots of good times and bad times and stressful times, I know that whatever’s currently going on, won’t last forever. There’s always light at the end of the tunnel.
I think I know myself more now than when I was younger and I feel settled in my life. That’s definitely a good feeling.
What’s your Good, Bad or WTF of your current age and how are you dealing with it. I’d love to hear all your thoughts in the comments.
Back with another Friday Faves post. I have a few great Amazon Fashion finds, a…
